Oldie Moldie Monday once again

Where did last week go - some weeks I find it hard to create so I had no cards to create and I was busy trying to catch up on things around the house

Had a wonderful fun week end. My friend Ivanka who lives near Toronto came to Wisconsin to visit. Our friend Annie came from the Twin Cities and we shopped until we dropped. We stayed in Madison and paper crafters who live in this area are very lucky to have such wonderful stores to visit. We have several locally owned scrapbook stores, Archievers, a super JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby - and a visit to the Gina K stamp store in McFarland, WI. The 3 of us made her cards with some of the stamps I had - and we were lucky - she popped into the store while we were there so we could give her the cards. Of course, we should have had our picture taken with her. We all came away with a new set of stamps. Ivanka had lots of fun - and then on Sunday on the way back to the airport - we stopped at the outlet mall in Johnson Creek - Bass was having an "excellent" sale and we both helped out the economy. Sure hope she comes back to visit again.

I made this card last week - it is made with paper from Bo Bunny - some die cut flowers - the bling flowers were from the Dollar Bin at Target. The rub ons are from October Afternoon. I think this will be a Mother's Day card.

Everyone have a wonderful evening - I want to go play with some new paper and stuff.

Oldie Moldie Monday once again

Here is my oldie moldie card for Monday - I had this card die cut in a folder with all this paper - I had done a big project for Simply Sentiments with it. I actually made another card last week with this same paper but forget to take a picture of it before I put it in the mail.

It is Bo Bunny Paper, Bazzill Cardstock, flower from the table decorations at a wedding, rub on is probably De Ja View.

Bo Bunny paper is always so bright and cheerful.

Dig out that old paper - I am sure it still would make a gorgeous card today.

Same Image swap on Card Site

On the card site that I am a member - Cococat's Cardmaking - someone different hosts the same image swap each month. This was the fun stamped image that was sent to eah of us. This is my design for the card.

I am loving to cut the scalloped paper by Bazzill into 4.5 x 6 inch strips to make cards - you only have the scallops on two sides - but I like the different dimension it brings to the card. The patterned paper is from Provo Craft - I am loving those little stacks for cardmaking. Just great for cardmakers - nice assortment of paper, right size for cards. Plus I got it for half price at Hobby Lobby. I used my gel pen around the frame on the stamped image. Added some primas and the center of the flowers - is from the dollar bin at Target.

Go check out all the other designs using this stamped image - everyone is different but so beautiful.

2nd Post - Same Day

I decided to post a 2nd card today - I did make this card today. Trying to use up some of that wide collection of paper that I have.

This card is based on the weekly sketch at Card Positioning Systems .

The paper is Bo Bunny - the rick rack is from Wrights - rub on De Ja Views. The flowers are some Prima, some taken off a cheap bush from Michaels or Walmart and some flowers I received at CHA. Love to do that layering.

Going to send this card off to my Mom on Saturday so she has a pretty card to start her week.

Thanks for looking.

Thursday - another dull title for a blog post

OK - I thought I was alive or atleast feeling alive - back home today and on antibiotics. I do hate being ill.

This is a card I made last week end - I actually did two versions but only took the shot of the one. It is a sketch from Carla's site - here is the sketch.

The paper is from the Hot Off the Press Vintage book - computer generated sentiment - ribbon may be May Art - bought it special so I don't remember who made it. None of my burgundy's matched or were too skinny for what I wanted to achieve. I also made a sympathy card and offset the sentiment and strip at the top of the card.

It is warmer here in Wisconsin and so I have my doors open - it is suppose to cool down and rain so I know this won't last but it sure is nice to let the winter smells out and let in the spring fresh air.

Have a wonderful day.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Dug into the very large collection of Basic Grey to make a couple get well cards. Sent one to my mom and one for the box. Punched out the frog from the patterned paper. I mixed up some acrylic paint - red and orange to get the right shade to distress the paper. I brushed the paint on the edges of all the paper. I created the sentiment on the computer - inside reads - and get well.

Got out the stickles and added it to the frog image and also to the center of all the flowers and to the top of the brads which were painted with the perfect shade of acrylic paint.

Dig into those old supplies and see what you can come up with.

Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Going to Live

Today I feel like I may actually live. Unfortunately I did wake at 3 this morning and got up at 4. I hate to lie in bed and toss and turn - so I got up and worked on some card stuff. Finished some cards I had started for my box. Getting my hair done this week so I need some new cards in the box to barter for services.
This card was done for a challenge over on Cococat's Card site to do baby cards. I need some baby cards - 3 babies being born to friends children. One done - 2 to go. This card was done with leftovers from the Basic Grey box. I had a chipboard elephant that I covered with paper and then inked it up so it matched more of the paper. Rub On by One Heart One Mind. Flowers and some bling for the little girl.
Trying to use all old paper this week for cards - and I may even be able to post several times this week. Yeah for me!! Nice to have some creativity again - but oh I really should go clean some house.

Still Sick

Sorry still fighting the virus I had - I have made it back to work - but there is nothing left for creativity when I get home.

Oldie Moldie Monday once again

Once again I am playing along with Ivanka to use up your old paper - she does this every Monday. You can find a link to her blog on the right side here - her card for today is beautiful.

I returned to work and made it through the day - I am very tired but hopefully each day will get easier.

The paper for this card is not that moldie - I think I have only had it less than a year. It is from one of Hot Off the Press books - this one is pastels - great groups of papers where everything coordinates. Prima flowers. The stamp is a new one I got a Hobby Lobby at half price - it is by Stampabilities. Seafoam white embossing powder by Ranger. I found two purple envelopes in my stash of envelopes that started me down the road to this creation - two of the cards were made to fit the envelopes. The other two cards are A2 sized - and will go in my box of cards for sale. Had a request for some Get Well cards.

Everyone have a wonderful evening. Dancing With the Stars is on tonight - do you watch - who do you think will win??

Recipe Page or What was I thinking???

What was I thinking - my neighbor asked me to participate in this recipe page exchange - you make 20 6 x 6 recipe pages and go to an exchange and get 20 pages - you make your recipe and bring it along - we each pay $20 and get a album that holds our recipes. I really do not like doing repetivie work - this must be why I do not participate in swaps.

This is a favorite recipe for Apple Cake - it is so yummy. I have had this recipe for over 30 years - and always think of Marge and her family and the mark they left on our family. When I saw this great patterned paper by K&Co. - I knew my recipe page was going to be very non traditional colors. It is not very fancy - but I don't do my best work when I am sick and when you have put it off - GET RR DONE - was the matra for this project. My neighbor hasn't started hers yet - but I did do all her shopping for her - she is doing Texas Cavier - I could have designed her page for her. A 6 inch square is not very big.

Here is the recipe so you don't have to read it off the page -

Apple Cake

Topping - Mix ½ cup each: White sugar, brown sugar, nuts

Dice 2 cups apples

Cake - Cream together:1 cup each white sugar & brown sugar
½ c. margarine/shortening
Add 2 eggs and 1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
Add2 ½ cups flour, 2 tsp soda1 tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp salt
Stir in diced apples,
Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 pan.

Sprinkle sugar/nut mixture on top.

Bake 350 degrees 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Flu

The crappy flu that has been hitting everyone and laying them low for over a week has caught me. When you feel like this - you don't feel like making any cards - hopefully next week I will return to the land of the living.

Keep running -don't let this crap catch you.
