Sunday - Where Did it Go

Why does the week end always go so fast - here it is almost 5 p.m. - and I have not accomplished anything yet. No - I did get groceries - I did laundry yesterday so I think (think) I have clothes to wear to work tomorrow. Funny weather here - it has been summerlike so hard to wear a sweater to work. It is suppose to cool down this week - have to dig out the light weight sweaters.
I went to a rugby game yesterday to watch my nephew play - I know absolutely nothing about rugby - I still know nothing about rugby but I am amazed no one was hauled off the field dead or broken. A little further down the field were teams playing LaCrosse - another game I know nothing about. But hey - what about those Brewers - yeah - thank you Marlins for beating the Mets. Not so good news for the Packers.
Did some paper playing this week end. I have many birthdays in October so trying to get this started. I try to send my Mom a card every day of her birthday week so that means Saturday I need to put my first card in the mail. I guess I had better be productive this week. Maybe I will just do every sketch that comes along.
Speaking of sketches - this card is from the sketch posted on Card Positioning System. I flipped it on its side. I am also going to use it for the challenge on Creative Corner - which is Colored Stitching - I do believe brown thread qualifies for that.
Doily - was white - but I dipped it in some coffee to give it a creamier color
Paper - October Afternoon
Twine - May Art
Rub On - Crate Paper
Big Cream flower - Bazzill
other flowers - Sizzix die cuts
Buttons - from the button stash
Everyone enjoy your week - I do hope I am back with more creations this week.
For some fun - I participate in a small card forum - the community is very creative and a wonderful online family. We are celebrating our first anniversary starting this week - we have a month of fun activities planned - please stop by Cococat's Cardmaking - share your creativity and become a part of our family.

Summer/Fall - Mother nature confused

Once again - how did it get to be Saturday again and I only posted once. Well I did not make a card - I do go into my messy room and try - but nothing happens. This working zaps me of creative energy. Thursday night - I did start a couple cards - I thought I would try to submit for PaperCrafts most recent call - so next week - I will share my cards with you.
It has been summer like in Wisconsin - it was in the 80's yesterday - very hard to dress - summer clothes don't seem right - but you sure aren't going to haul out the sweaters yet. More fall like temps return next week. The leaves just need to fall.
OK - could someone explain why my photos look crooked - they are straight - I guess it is operator error - I am not a photographer as you all can see. This card was done for a swap over on Coconut's Cardmaking site. Everyone was sent the same image - we created our card and then sent them off to someone in the swap - mine is heading toward Canada. The month of October we will be having a 1st Anniversary Celebration on the site - stop by - join us - and have some fun.

Oops I forgot to give it a title

Made it through a Monday - yeah!! Sorry no oldie moldie paper today on my card. The first day of fall and it is almost 80 degrees - tomorrow it is going to be over 80. How lucky are we - hard to dress for this time of year. This morning I was putting some things in my card and had my garage sandals on - well guess who wore her garage sandals to work - luckily they are Crocs so they don't look bad - just not too stylish. Did you happen to see the Croc commercials at the Beach Volleyball tournament on TV yesterday - they are too funny.
Well here is my card for tonight - it is based on the sketch at Card Positioning System - very fun to do. I hope you enjoy my creation.
Paper - Basic Grey
Stamp - Purple Daisy Design
Ink - Stampin' Up
Punch - Paper Shapers
Rub On - On Heart One Mine
I stamped the butterfly twice and punched them out and adhered them together - I only put glue on the middle of the butterfly and then folded up the wings so it looks like the butterfly has just landed on the circles.
The stripe on the side is a strip of fabric that is gathered to fit the length of the card. I sewed it to the front of the card and then added the strip of contrast paper on top and stitched it on also. The fabric was leftover from a top my daughter made while she was in college. It is fun to add this dimension to a card - something unexpected.
Everyone have a good evening.

Happy Sunday

Well this blog was interrupted by a cold - I was miserable all last week with a cold - but luckily I did not get it as bad as some of my office mates. Thank goodness.

This week end I went to see my Mom - my niece was here from Oklahoma with her son - had not seen them for years so it was great. My 90 year old mother - decided she wanted to pick up apples from under the apple trees - my brother owns an orchard so off I drove my car into the orchard - found some trees and we picked up 5 bags of apple - we both survived the adventure.

After I came home today I made two apple cakes - one for work and one to share with the neighbors - each neighbor got half the cake - the kids love it when I call and say bring your plates over and I fill them up with delicious cake (hopefully delicious).

I think I am going to make a card tonight - the Packers are playing tonight - and if I keep busy - I shouldn't fall asleep - can't sit down.

if you want the apple cake recipe - just leave me your e mail address and I will send it to you.

Come back again and visit.

A challenge and oldy moldie Monday

Monday - back to work - after a rainy week end - all I did was e mail all day - I love my e mail but gee - sometimes it takes forever to get caught up. Thank goodness we don't have voice mail - I would never get anything accomplished. The weather is suppose to be sunny the remainder of the week - YEAH - it was chilly today - wore pants and a sweater but it is way too soon to put shoes on - nice sandals completed the ensemble. Tonight pay bills and work on some other things.
Here is my card for tonight. The return of oldie moldie monday - I could do this day for about 10 years every day of the week - I might run out of cardstock but never patterned paper - I would adhesive also. This card was done for the challenge on Caardvarks - the challenge is to use office supplies, career related elements, etc. I wanted to use a vintage image of a typewriter - I do hope a few of you remember what a typewriter is - used staples on the left edge of the card and also on the photo corner on the typewriter image. A small binder clip was added to the memo which has the notebook edge on it.
Paper - Crate Paper
Flower - Kaiser Scrapbooking - coffee dyed so they weren't "so white"
Font - Typewriter
It turned out to be a perfect card for someone who just got a new job. We hand delivered it to her today. She really liked it.
Enjoy your evening.

How did it become Sunday??

Time to start another week - where did the week go - no card making that is for sure - I did take my neighbor kids shopping for their birthdays. Thursday evening Kristen and I went shopping - we traversed the Target store - around and around - for over an hour - she could not make up her mind - finally we decided on a video. For all I know - she may have had her Mom take her back to the store so she could change her mind. Her mom had warned me about this. Saturday morning I took Hunter shopping - we headed to Toys R Us - I was little scared about this adventure - told his parents they needed to be on speed dial while we were shopping - well it was great - he found some matchbox cars and car wash - he was happy - then to McDonald's for an ice cream cone - we had to leave the store - because he was so cold eating his ice cream - I have never seen anyone take that long to eat an ice cream cone. Today I went shopping with a friend - it was successful and we even got to visit a couple paper stores.

My cards tonight are two mini cards - these are fun to stick in when you send a swap off or just a little note to someone.

Wacky Wonderful Wednesday

Wacky Wonderful Wednesday in the Wonderful state of Wisconsin - beautiful weather - of course - working - never leaving your building - how would you know until you leave for home. The days at work are not long enough - I am not getting everything done - it is the beginning of the school year and it is always hectic plus I am trying to impletment some new things which I have to kinda create - I am going to have a blog at work - another way to communicate with the students.
My card today is for a new baby boy (actually his parents) - the mom was a college roommate of one of my daughters. The girls are all still close so I wanted to make a card for Lisa and Geoff and Donovan.
The card is based on a sketch at Triple the Sketch - I believe it is the first time I have done one of their sketches. They post the sketch on Friday with scrapbook layouts and then on Saturday they show cards made from the sketch.
Paper - K & Company - Brenda Walton - Designer Mat Pad (great for card makers)
Chipboard - K & Company BW Small Wonder Boy Tags
Rub Ons - K & Company
Brads - American Crafts
Have a good evening.

September 9

September 9 - now isn't that a title for a post that you just can't wait to read. NOT - but titles are so hard to come by.
I do love September - I love how the weather cools down at night but we can still have beautiful days - today was a beautiful day - of course - I was working - at work it was one of those days where I got no where real fast.
I did get a couple cards made last night - will post one tonight and save the other one that is done for tomorrow night - so you all come back now.
The card tonight is based on the sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. They also have a bonus sketch - we will see if I can get to that one later in the week. I love to go over and just visit everyone's blog to see their creation - and then you are blog hopping and you don't get anything created except for drooling over all the beautiful cards out on the world wide web.
Flower: big box store - buy a bush and tear it apart for multiple layering
Paper: Orange is by Amuse (8.5 x 11 sheet) - it is the card base, Sassafras (double sided) - border is bottom of this sheet
Rub On - words - Kaiser Scrapbooking, little flowers DeJaVue
Bib brad - Imaginisce
Adhered paper to big brad with Mod Podge and then added a layer of Sparkle Mod Podge over the top - I did brush the Sparkle Mod Podge on the flower petals to give them some sparkle
Added Stickles to the center of the little flowers and the bottom white dots on the scallop
This is for a young lady at work - who is limited term employee - who has interviewed for the job - and hopefully we can give this to her as a celebration - hopefully not a good bye.
This paper - says a "bee" card to me - I am coloring my bees right now - so stay tuned - for that card.
Everyone have a wonderful evening and a good day tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Kristin

Today my baby turns 32 but not going to be able to spend the day with her - but I do get to go to a birthday party for my neighbor sweetie - when she was very small she called me Bark - for her present I will take her shopping and then we will have ice cream. Gives us some fun time together - that is what I am doing with the neighbor kids now.
This card is based on the sketch at Beate's blog - Fresh and Fun . The layout worked very well for this image and the patterned paper I decided to use.
Cupcake stamp - Hero Arts (I do believe I have gotten my money out of this stamp set)
stamped on watercolor paper, colored with Prismacolors and gamsol - added stickles to the image - little girls love sparkles. I did my shadowing (yellow) using the Ranger Distress Inks - wetting my finger and rubbing it over the ink - popdotted the image
Patterned paper - Celebrate Line by Fancy Pants
Lace - Wrights
Flower - no idea
Rub On - Rusty Pickle
Designer Tip - or how cheap can you get tip - after you have used up your Pop Dots - I trim the leftover sheet into strips and use that for popping my image up - lots more mileage for your buck.

Wet Thursday

We are getting rain in Wisconsin - finally - the affect of Gustav - everything outside was getting very crispy. I do refuse to water my lawn - good side - did not have to mow. On Tuesday we broke 90 degrees for the first time - the next day we dropped 20 to 30 degrees - I had to go to the post office - and I swung through Wendy's and got chili - boy did that taste good.
Today's card is based on Kazan's Sketch 8 on 2 Sketches 4 You - I did the extra sketch earlier in the week and finally got this one finished. Fun card to make - new stamp so I had to ink it up.
Patterned Paper - Basic Grey
Stamp - Hero Arts
Colored with Gamsol and Prismacolors with stickles added
Word Rub on - Making Memories
Snowflakes rub on - Me and my Big Ideas
Red snowflake - Imaginisce
Bling snowflake - Darice
Popdotted the image
I have another card in the works - same paper - same stamp. I may even have some holiday cards ready to use - that will be a change.
I have so much patterned paper - that I have started to use it for card bases.
Everyone have a great evening.

Hump Day Wednesday

A good day at work - made someone very happy - so it was totally awesome. Someone else gets the flowers but can't take away that feeling of breaking good news to someone.

I am playing tonight with a new stamp from Hero Arts and the design from 2 Sketches 4 You. Maybe tomorrow night you will get to see that card - if it pans out.

Tonight's card is the same image from last night. This one I did nothing to the image - this is exactly how it was sent to me - except I rounded the corners.

Paper - Stampin! Up
QuicKutz Border scallop diecut

I like my other card much better - it is brighter - but this one is still nice.

Enjoy your evening.

Tuesday - but it felt like Monday

Isn't it true how after a three day week end - even though it is Tuesday - still feels like Monday - and a short week always seems long. Busy at work - nothing exciting to tell you - I got groceries so I can eat for a couple days - that is important.

My card is one I did for "same image swap" over on Cococat's Cardmaking. It came stamped in brown on white paper - I made another card - but must have forgotten to take a picture - have to find it and post in which I stayed with all brown tones - it was OK - so I did a little putzing - I used a gel or glitter pen and just dabbed it on the flower petals and filled them in. I used a glaze pen on the leaves. I then took chalk and colored the white paper. Much happier with the look - I used Basic Grey for my paper. Built the flower from flowers in the stash - the bottom flower is a Stampin! Up stamp stamped in pigment ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

Pop over to Cococat's and check out everyone else's card using this image.

Happy Birthday Hunter

Happy Labor Day everyone. Little known fact about me - I actually had my youngest daughter on Labor Day in 1974. It wasn't too much "Labor" since I delivered her two hours after I got to the hospital. Her birthday will be this next Saturday. Time flies fast - but she has turned into a wonderful young lady.
Had great fun yesterday - had a cousin reunion - I have 30 some first cousins - lots of us were there - and it was fun to see everyone. Out of the original 11 sisters and brothers (our parents) we have two sisters still alive (one celebrated her 100th birthday this year) and 4 surviving spouses. My youngest brother is the youngest grandchild and has the youngest great grandchild. Lots of good food. I have lots of pasta salad left if anyone wants to bring a bowl over and get some - please do. I am calling the neighbors - Amy said they liked that type of pasta salad - hopefully Anna's family does too.
September is full of birthdays - I already feel behind. I actually do have Carrie's card made. Yeah - unless I make another one - we will see. Today's card is for Hunter - my little neighbor boy who always makes me smile - calls me Babawa. Hunter takes karate lessons - he also wrestles. That is why we have a karate boy card. I wanted to show you the inside also - I try to coordinate the inside with the other papers used on the front.
The card is based on the Bonus Sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. I would insert the sketch - but not quite sure how to do that. Just jump over to 2 Sketches 4 You - you won't be disappointed - they have a new sketch every Monday - plus they have been adding a bonus sketch.
Karate boy - iron on transfer (for fabric) from Plaid - works great on paper
Rub on - Basic Grey
Paper - Bo Bunny (green boy is ironed to), Moxxie (argyle) , Stampin! Up (red),
Sweetwater (black)
Stars - Sizzix die cut
Computer generated sentiment
For got to say - this is a card that opens left to right - for this particular family - all their cards open that way - the first time I made someone in the family a card - I did it that way by mistake - so they gave me such a hard time about it - all their cards open that way now.
Enjoy the remainder of your Monday.
