Oldie Moldie Monday - Thanks a Melon

Oldie Moldie Monday - time to show some love for some old supplies.  The melon paper is from a Jillibean Soup 6 x 6 pad - and so I created the sentiment on the computer to go along with it - two very simple cards -but six more made for my Operation Write Home box.  The cards will bring a smile to the sender and recipient.

Have a wonderful day.

Lucky Stars For You

I wanted to do a patriotic card for Memorial Day week end.  I have made two versions of this card and they will go in my next Operation Write Home Box.

The card design is based on the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

I changed the orientation of the card to have a vertical card.  Stars are my flowers.  The sentiment is a digital that I have but bad me - I did not put who it was from - I do apologize to the creator.  The paper is from We R Memory Keepers.

This card is also for the challenge on CAS-UL Friday to make a red/white/blue card.

I found a 50% off coupon at Michael's for today - I am off to buy a collection of Gelato's and have some fun with them.  I love coupons.

Here is my other card based on the sketch - the sentiment is on the other side.

Happy Happy Birthday

A little late with this birthday card but I think it will be appreciated when it is received.  This is a digital image and sentiment and of course, the name of the company, is in my file at work.  I will have to add it later on - it is a three day week end and I am not going near work this week end.

My friend loves her camera so I thought she would love this image and teal is one of her favorite colors.  I believe the paper is by Doodlebug.  I added glossy accents to the grey circle so it has a nice shine and some dimension.

I am entering this in the weekly challenge at Simon Says Stamp challenge blog - which is "Take a Picture".

Oldie Moldie Monday

On Sunday, I saw this great post from Simon Says Stamp is to send a card to a young lady who is battling cancer.  Here is the link if you wish to read more about Maddy.

I wanted to send her a card with a happy image and some pretty bright colors on it.  It is Oldie Moldie Monday so I dug back in some old supplies - I don't think this 6 x 6 pad has aged that well yet - but I know it is not brand new.  It is from Basic Grey.  The stamp is from a local stamp company - Cracker Box Palace.  The sentiment is from Studio Calico - a set I got from a class I took "You've Got Mail".

I will make another card with same design but a different sentiment for my Operation Write Home box.

Show some love to your old supplies.

Clean and Simple Masculine Card

Paper Players' Weekly Challenge is to make a CAS masculine card.  This was a wonderful challenge for me because I wanted to get a masculine card made and sent off to a friend's husband who is going through a rough stretch right now in his health.

The truck stamp is a favorite that is no longer available from Cornish Heritage Farm Stamps.  I do hope they bring it back someday.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  Kraft Paper and black as your accent color make a great card.

I made a second card just like this one for my Operation Write Home box.

Thanks for stopping by.

Being Artsy Fartsy Again

I needed a retirement card for the office to give to a special lady who is retiring from our campus - I decided I wanted to be artsy fartsy with this card.  There are many layers of paint and spray and tissue paper on a piece of watercolor paper.  The flower base is cut with my Silhouette and the flowers are a tissue paper  sprayed and cut with some spellbinders.  The sentiment is from SRM Stickers.  It did not turn out like I thought it would - but it is still a god card.

Oldie Moldie Monday

This is a card made from recycled paper.  I used covers from commencement programs.  Since I have started collecting the unused or discarded programs, we have gone through the colors of grey, purple and now they are white.  Yeah - it was really hard to make that many purple cards.

This is a retirement card for a professor at our university.  I thought it was very appropriate to use the commencement program covers for her card.  The cardbase is a program cut to size.  I cut purple to use as a mat, cut the border and then cut 2 different sizes of shaped Spellbinders for the flower.  I wet the flower layers and then crinkled them up - they have such a nice shape now.  Luckily I am not mailing this card - it will be hand delivered.  The sentiment is from SRM Stickers.

Come back tomorrow to see another retirement card - where I got artsy fartsy.

Hello, Howdy, Aloha, Ciao, Hey, Hola, Buenos Dias

I bought a new stamp - so I had to try it out - the stamp is by Stampabilities - a good  stamp for Operation Write Home cards.

This card is based on the weekly sketch from Operation Write Home's blog Stars and Stamps.

I bought some new paper yesterday (Happy Mother's Day Barb) and wanted to use some of it.  The plaid and the check that I stamped the sentiment are from My Mind's Eye - Kate and Co - Oxford Lane.  I liked the colors - a little different than what I usually buy - I also though you could make some masculine cards from the paper.  The brad is from them also.  The dark blue that I matted with are from my table and the yellow is also some my scraps.  I have lots of this yellow in my stash - I must have done a special project with it or was going to do a special project with it.

My take on the sketch is similar but not the same - my sentiment did not fit the dimension so everything else was adapted from there.  I also felt everything needed to be grounded so matted the sentiment and the yellow embossed background.

Happy Mother's Day everyone.

I Wuf You

Isn't this the sweetest stamp from Whipper Snapper Stamps?  A stamp that can be used for anything - not just valentines day.

I made three of these for my next Operation Write Home box - I can picture a parent sending it home to one of their children for a birthday - heck you could send it to a "so called adult" also.

The pattern paper is from Bo Bunny.  The embossing folder is from Hobby Lobby.

Everyone enjoy your evening - I am trying to reduce root beer - hoping not to burn it up in the pan - hmmm - I wonder who did that on Sunday.

Oldie Moldie Monday

I have been playing with this group of papers from Jillibean Soup.  I have made 6 of this particular design or something very similar in design.  I have four that will go in my next Operation Write Home Box.

Oh, and my granddog Axel, says the card was very tasty.

Remember to show some love for your old paper and supplies.

Hello and Miss You

I know - I have not posted for a couple weeks and here I am doing two cards in one day - actually I made 3 cards as you can see there are two cards in this post.

This card is for my son in law.  A little mail to let him know I am thinking about him during his fight with cancer.  I bought a new 6 x 6 pad by Bo Bunny called Trail Mix.  I used a Tim Holtz distressing embossing folder.  The sentiment is from American Crafts - Amy Tangerine - I know I will get  lots of use out of this Hello stamp.

The card is based on the weekly sketch from CAS this Sketch.

I flipped the sketch to make a card for Operation Write Home.  I used the same papers and distressing folder but the stamp is from Hero Arts.  Our Daily Bread Designs sponsors a monthly challenge for Operation Write Home - this month the challenge is to make a Missing You card.  Our Daily Bread Designs pays postage on a box of cards for each 25 cards submitted for the challenge - up to postage for two boxes.  Thank you for your support.

Back to Card Making

I have been missing in action.  Sometimes life gets in the way of your fun activities.  I do need my card making for therapy - so hopefully I will be back at the creative table once again.

This card is based on the weekly sketch at Operation Write Home's card blog Stars and Stamps - it has been awhile since I played along.  If the sketch comes up early, I usually have time to make the card - otherwise - life always gets in the way.  Sunday is get everything ready for the next work week day.  So as soon as this is finished posting, off to get the bedding off the bed and start laundry.  Need to find someone with a pick up to help me take my yard waste to the spot here in town.

Everyone enjoy your Sunday - we are going to have a sunny day in the 70's so I hope to at least spend some time outdoors - even if it is just sitting in a chair soaking in some sunshine.  I sat down for a few minutes yesterday - and fell asleep - of course - I heard about it from the neighbors - giving me a hard time about snoozing.  Kristine said I wasn't snoring though - so that is good to know.  Have a wonderful day.
