Cards for Children

Another card for the Collins Children Home.  I found this image already colored; I just needed to make the flower teal to pick up the colors in the leftover paper I was using.

An easy card to put together and it will make a little girl smile and feel better about herself.

Child's Butterfly Card

I am starting to get back in the card making mode again.  The last couple months have been very busy and a little traumatic but I think things are back on track a little.

I wanted to start working on my second box of cards for the Collins Children Home in Seneca, SC.  I was lucky enough to be able to visit this home in January and see the wonderful work they do with children.  Nothing makes me happier than making cards for children especially children who never receive a card -whether it be a purchased card or a handmade one.

I found this image already colored as I was looking for something else.  I also found the plaid paper.  The pink is a favorite - the Bo Bunny dots.  I love that one side has the dots and the other side is plain.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts which was white embossed on some vellum.

I know this card will make some little girl smile and feel good about herself.  A card maker could not ask for anything more.

Friends

I have a special group of friends which we were named the Ya Ya's by a fellow member who passed away from breast cancer.  I wanted to send these friends a card to let them know how much I value their friendship, support and love.

I decided to use the current sketch from The Paper Players.

I am also entering it into the weekly challenge on Tuesday Throwdown where the challenge is "Anything Goes".

I picked up a 6 x 6 pad (I have quite a few) and found 3 coordinating papers for the strips.  The teal circle is actually cut from a packet of cards I had bought.  The color was perfect.  The packet probably cost me $1 and I still have some more left if I want to use them.  The sentiment is from Penny Black.  It is a new sentiment set I just bought last week.

I know my friends will like receiving some special mail.  Sometimes you don't tell your friends often enough how much they mean to you.

Happy Birthday

I am making an effort this year to send birthday cards to my family members.  I have not been very good at this in the past.  With retirement, I should have not excuse.  So far, I have only been late on one and I will not beat myself up on why it was late.

This card is for my niece in California.  She will be shocked to get a birthday card from her Auntie.  It is in the envelope all ready to go in the mail next Monday.

I used the sketch from Retro Sketches.

It is a pretty straight forward sketch and I grabbed a 6 x 6 pad and found coordinating paper and a large birthday sentiment to fill the middle band.  I just added a twine bow to finish it off.  The scalloped border was cut with my Silhouette from a pink scrap of paper.

Hopefully Jessica will recover from getting a birthday card from her Auntie.

Mixed Media Mojo How To

Today I am sharing a post on the Mixed Media Mojo blog about how I created the following journal page.  This page is done in a recipe book that I am using to journal in.  I also used the pictures in a sales flyer for a department store for part of my journal.  Go check out what I did on the Mixed Media Mojo Blog.

You still have time to play along with our challenge which is to recycle.

Oldie Moldie Monday on Sunday

I have a post for another blog tomorrow so I wanted to share my Oldie Moldie Monday card today on Sunday.  I hope no one objects.

I am trying hard to get back to "normal" and start doing some creating.  I am also playing catch up on my creative obligations.  Plus there is yard work to be done.  UGH.

I am playing along with the the sketch from Sketch Saturday.

I have a group of fellow cardmarkers and we try to send cards to people who need their spirits uplifted.  Of course, I can not resist a child who needs a smile.  This card is going to a little girl in Boston who has had way too many surgeries for someone so young.

I was cleaning up a little and found this image already colored.  That sure helps the card making process go a little faster.  The paper is a from a 6 x 6 pad - many of my favorite colors in this pad from Pebbles.

Thanks for popping in.  Remember to show some love for your old supplies.

Monochromatic Thank You Card

Another set of thank you cards that I made.  The thank you stamp was new and inked with VersaMark and I used white embossing powder.  The under layer of pink card stock was embossed in my trusty Cuddlebug with one of their original folders - the flourish or swirl.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thank You Notes

I am making some thank you notes the family can send to people after the death of my mother.  My mother's name was Molly Beatrice but she went by Bea so you will find many of the notes have bees on them.

Here is the first thank you note.  This one used a new die I bought from Simon Says.  I found this double sided paper.  It looks like honeycomb on the side you see at the bottom of the card and the other side has little bees flying around on a blue background.  The stamp is by Inky Antics.  I am not really happy with the chalking now but six cards have it on them.

Come back another day to see more thank you cards.

Oldie Moldie Monday

I had to send a belated birthday card to my great nephew and this is what I came up with.  I believe the paper is Doodlebug.

I so hope to return to creating every day.

Quilt Thank You Cards

I got this wonderful quilt die cut from Gina Marie Designs.   I cut the design from 4 different pieces of paper so that I could paper piece 4 quilt blocks.  All the paper coordinates so makes it quite easy to  do 4 blocks.

On the next two cards, I colored the frame of the quilt square with a gray copic marker.  The border was not dark enough to set off the quilt block.  There is gray in the paper with the words printed on it.

The thank you is a Hero Arts stamp that I trimmed down to fit in the area.

Thanks for stopping by.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.  I made a quick Christmas card.

This card is for the challenge at Merry Monday.  It is a multi challenge so you had lots to choose from.  I actually used four:  snowman, color challenge and sketch.

I used paper from My Mind's Eye (2013).  The stamp is from Paper Smooches colored with Copics.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hopefully I will be able to continue to keep up with my card making now.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love to your old supplies.  This paper is not that old but I have had it a year or two.  The paper is double sided so it makes creating a card very easy.

The curved edge was cut with Lawn Fawn dies.  The sentiment was found on the internet for free.

Remember to show some love to your old supplies.

Mixed Media Mojo April Challenge

It is the beginning of the month of April and time for a new challenge on Mixed Media Mojo.  The challenge for the month of April is to use something recycled and the twist is to use some metal on your project.

My project for the month is very simple.  One of my favorite art mediums is recycled book pages.  I have drawn my bird on a book page and also the background base for the card is a book page.

I have been drawing birds so this is one of my little birds I drew.  I really wanted to use the phrase "shake your tail feather" after I got done drawing and coloring the tail.  I did use a sticker from SRM Stickers for the Smile sentiment.  The card was created for an exchange I am in.

The yellow is Dylusions paint.  The teal and coral are ink intense pencils.

Here are some close ups of the bird and also the paper pleated ruffles on the bottom.

The bird is really teal and coral.  Love the lighting sometimes when you take pictures.

The metal on my card is a small washer type object which is around the eye of the bird.  It was adhered with glossy accents.

Please join us at Mixed Media Mojo this month.  Please recycle something and add a little piece of metal to it.
